Description: This literature review examines the effects of global HIV/AIDS funding initiatives on human resources for health in sub-Saharan Africa. Specifically it looks into policies and activities of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM), the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the World Bank’s Multi-Country HIV/AIDS Program for Africa between 2003 and 2012.
